Terms of Service
Effective Date: October 7, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Kindred Collective's websites and apps (the "Service"), operated by Kindred Home Education ("Kindred Collective," "we," "our," or "us"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
What the Service is
Kindred Collective gives co-ops, microschools, and similar organizations (each an "Organization") a private online space for rosters, class schedules, attendance, lessons, grades, messages, and a community calendar. Each Organization runs its own space. Kindred Collective provides the technology; it is not a school, and it is not a party to any agreement between an Organization and its families (such as enrollment, tuition, or policies).
Early access
The Service is still being built and is made available to Organizations by invitation. Features may change, and the Service may contain bugs or incomplete features. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service, and we will try to give Organizations reasonable notice when we do.
Accounts and eligibility
- Accounts are created by invitation from an Organization. You must be at least 18 to hold an adult account.
- A parent or guardian may be given a way to log in for their own child. A parent or guardian is responsible for how a child's login is used.
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us promptly at support@plankindred.app if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- An Organization's administrators decide who has access to that Organization's space and may turn access on or off at any time.
Your content
You keep ownership of the content you add to the Service, such as lesson plans, class materials, notes, messages, photos, and documents ("Your Content"). You give us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display Your Content only as needed to operate the Service for you and your Organization. That license ends when the content is deleted or the account is closed, apart from backups that are deleted on their normal schedule.
You confirm you have the rights needed to add Your Content, that it does not infringe anyone else's rights, and, if you add information or a photo about a child, that you are the child's parent or guardian or have been authorized by them or by the Organization to do so.
Content an Organization adds to its own space (such as a roster, syllabus, or calendar) is controlled by that Organization.
Messages and visibility
Administrators of an Organization can read every message thread in that Organization. Do not use the Service for anything you would not want an administrator to read. How information is shared inside an Organization is described in our Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for anything unlawful, harassing, or harmful to children;
- try to see another Organization's or family's information, or to get around the Service's access controls;
- upload malicious files, or content you do not have the right to share;
- interfere with or overload the Service, or probe it for weaknesses without our written permission;
- copy, reverse engineer, or extract the source code of the Service, or use it to build a competing product.
Our ownership
The Service, including its software, design, features, and the Kindred Collective name and logo, is owned by Kindred Home Education and protected by intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of it to you. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them freely without payment or credit.
Third-party services
The Service can connect to other services you choose, such as Google Calendar. Your use of those services is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them. Connecting is optional and you can disconnect at any time. How we handle Google user data is described in our Privacy Policy.
No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Please do not rely on the Service as your only record of anything that you or the law require you to keep.
Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Kindred Collective is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim (which is zero if you have not paid us).
Ending your use
You can stop using the Service at any time, and can ask to have your account closed by contacting us or your Organization. We or an Organization may suspend or end access if these Terms are broken or to protect the Service or other people. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as ownership, disclaimers, and limits of liability) continue after access ends.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms are posted here with a new effective date, and continuing to use the Service after that means you accept them.
